NFE’s 2017 Summer Interns
In the month of May, NFE welcomed five interns who are joining us for the summer from the universities of Michigan Tech and Michigan State. Two are studying surveying engineering, two are studying civil engineering, and one is undecided about which engineering field to concentrate on. This group of many talents will be providing invaluable assistance to NFE over the summer, and hopefully learning a thing or two.
Erin Emmanuel just finished her second year at Michigan State, and is planning on graduating in 2019 with a degree in civil engineering. She chose civil engineering because she loves city infrastructure. Currently, Erin is working in the office by mapping NFE projects using AutoCAD. Before starting her summer internship, Erin traveled to Germany, and toured a lot of the country while visiting a few acquaintances. The highlight of her trip was visiting Berlin and seeing the Holocaust Memorial. Erin is from Livonia, and enjoys traveling, running and going to the movies.
Brandon Hill is majoring in surveying engineering at Michigan Tech, and will graduate in December 2017. After graduation, he is planning on continuing his education by getting his master’s degree from Michigan Tech in Integrated Geospatial Technology, concentrating on remote sensing. Currently, Brandon is working in the Surveying Department where he is mapping surveys using AutoCAD. Brandon is from the Lansing area, and enjoys flying drones, snowboarding, longboarding, fishing, working out and being outdoors.
Alyxandra Hoberg just finished her fist year at Michigan State. She is unsure of what she wants to major in, but knows it will be in the engineering field. This internship is giving her the chance to see what civil engineering/surveying engineering is all about. Currently, Alyxandra is helping in the print room with scanning, and will soon learn the basics of AutoCAD. She enjoys volleyball and is on the volleyball team at Michigan State, along with a member of the sorority Sigma Kappa. Alyxandra also enjoys attending concerts, outdoor activities and learning new things.
Aaron Miner is majoring in surveying engineering, and plans to graduate from Michigan Tech in December 2017. He chose surveying engineering because he loves the outdoors and maps, and wants to work both in an office environment and outdoors. Currently, Arron is working in the Surveying Department going onsite with survey crews to map NFE projects. He is from the small village of Calumet in the Upper Peninsula, and enjoys snowmobiling, dirt bikes, hiking, camping and being outdoors as much as he can.
Justin Pavliscak is a returning intern; he also interned with us last summer. He is majoring in civil engineering at Michigan Tech and will be a senior in the fall. Currently, Justin is helping with inspection on our municipal projects that are in construction. This work is helping him reach his goal of learning and experiencing as much as he can regarding civil engineering. After graduation, Justin would like to work and join the National Guard which will continue his work done in the ROTC program at Michigan Tech. He is from Lake Orion, and enjoys hunting, downhill skiing and watching sports.
NFE is privileged to have such hard working, talented interns for the summer.
