Royal Oak SoMa Development

After preparing many site plans that never got developed for the odd-shaped lot at 10 Mile Road between Main Street and Woodward Avenue in Royal Oak, Michigan, NFE has created site and landscape plans for a new apartment complex on the property called SoMa. SoMa has recently been approved by Royal Oak’s Planning Commission and appears to be well on its way to becoming a reality.

 

The $40 million apartment complex is being developed by Singh Development, LLC. When built, SoMa will be a five-story, mix-use development with 240 apartments, over 10,000 feet of commercial space, a five-story parking deck contained within the interior of the building and a pedestrian urban park.

 

NFE provided land surveying, civil engineering and landscape architect services for the development, and is currently working on construction plans for the City of Royal Oak to approve. We also created landscape design plans for the pedestrian urban park at the east side of the SoMa development along Main Street, as well as streetscape elements along the roads of 10 Mile, Woodward Avenue, Washington Avenue and Tiffany Lane. The urban park will include trees, sidewalks, benches and artwork.

 

For the last 15 years, NFE has been a consulting engineer to the City of Royal working on municipal projects with the City Engineers and preparing site plans for many of the private developments within the city. We are proud of our long-term relationship with the city and for our part in creating a gateway for Royal Oak.
